Our commitments
Making culture a space for dialogue
Since 2014, La Fabrique Culturelle has been convinced that art can bring people together where everything divides. With its partners, it designs projects that reach out to residents, pupils and communities: in the neighbourhoods of Abidjan, across the country and in state schools.

Médiamig — Media and migration
Creating and sharing content to better understand migration issues and strengthen critical thinking.
Côte d’Ivoire is both a host country (more than one in five residents is of foreign origin) and a country of departure for many young people. Migration is often told there through preconceived ideas and false information.
Funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), the Médiamig project brings together a consortium of four organisations: the AVSI Foundation (lead partner), ONJI-CI (investigative journalists), Libraries Without Borders and La Fabrique Culturelle. The journalists investigate and train; La Fabrique brings artistic creation, so that these messages reach the general public in accessible and popular forms.
The project runs over 24 months, in Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo and Daloa.
What La Fabrique creates
- 2 educational and humorous web series, broadcast on social media and on the second national television channel.
- 3 radio tales inspired by migrants' testimonies, in Baoulé, Bété and Dioula, broadcast on local radio stations.
- Participatory theatre written from workshops and testimonies, performed in Korhogo, Daloa and Bouaké.
- Comedy shows on migration in secondary schools and universities.
Timeline
- Autumn 2026Recording of the radio tales, project launch.
- Late 2026 – mid-2027Workshops and collection of testimonies, writing and creation of the plays.
- 2027Filming of the web series, shows in schools.
- Late 2027 – early 2028Tour of the participatory theatre and distribution of the content.

“Je vote la paix” (I vote for peace)
An artistic and civic caravan for peaceful elections.
In 2025, a presidential election year in Côte d’Ivoire, La Fabrique Culturelle designed with the European Union an awareness caravan that travelled through three areas. The aim: to talk about peace, voting and living together with residents, especially young people, through the language of art.
At each stop
- A performance and debate: a play created for the project, followed by a discussion with the audience and experts.
- A big concert bringing together local artists and a headline act.
- A street art mural painted on site, which remains visible after the caravan has left.
- Local associations involved in mobilising residents, and a questionnaire to gather participants' views.

Memorial artworks for peace
Six artworks to keep memory alive.
The post-election crisis left deep wounds in several parts of Côte d’Ivoire. For two years, with the Trust Fund for Victims of the International Criminal Court, the AVSI Foundation and the NGO DRAO, La Fabrique Culturelle supported the creation of six memorial artworks in Abobo, Yopougon, Duékoué, Bloléquin, Péhé and Doké.

A participatory approach
- The artists designed each work from dialogues with local people, so that it speaks of their history.
- 12 artists and students from INSAAC were selected and supported to design and produce the works.
- The works are installed in public spaces chosen with the local authorities.
- The town halls and the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie are involved in their upkeep.
What the project achieved
- Honouring the memory of the victims and acknowledging what they went through.
- Opening a space for dialogue between communities and between generations.
- Making art a tool for resilience and national reconciliation.
- Giving young artists concrete and visible professional experience.
The six works were inaugurated by government authorities in March and April 2025.

Forum theatre
Forum theatre opens the debate and gives people a voice.
Forum theatre is participatory theatre. The actors perform a short scene that raises a social issue; then the scene is played again and spectators can step in, take the place of a character and propose a different outcome. Everyone speaks, listens to others and looks for solutions together.
Eight sessions, four themes
- Civic duty: Cocody and Abobo
- Citizenship: Yopougon and Treichville
- Training and job readiness: Koumassi and the Methodist University of Côte d’Ivoire
- Women's leadership: Port-Bouët and Adjamé

ACCES Culture
Cultural outreach and entrepreneurship for performing artists.
In state primary schools, the arts are not part of the curriculum. A laureate of the ACCES Culture programme of the Institut français and the French Development Agency, La Fabrique Culturelle trains Ivorian artists to become cultural mediators and entrepreneurs, then supports them in schools.
A three-step programme
- Training the artists (theatre, dance, music, storytelling, circus, comedy): cultural outreach, teaching methods for young audiences, project management, administration and communication.
- Working in schools: introductory workshops with pupils, then a final show open to families and the neighbourhood.
- Creating: the artists write and stage a show together, then perform it in the project's districts.
Pupils reached by district
- Adjamé: 2,400 pupils
- Yopougon: 1,600 pupils
- Treichville: 1,200 pupils
- Abengourou: 920 pupils
- Cocody: 300 pupils
In several schools, the pupils themselves set up theatre, storytelling, music, comedy and dance clubs.
